DESCRIPTION:EVENT NOW CANCELLED \nSlightly uphill\, this walk takes us along the gentle Tui Domain Track on Mt Te Aroha. There is a 10 minute detour to Tutumangao Falls and a view over Te Aroha township. \nWe will then visit ‘Te Mara’ (The Garden)\, the property of Michael and Judy Barker\, and hear about their protected area of native bush 300 metres above the township of Te Aroha and overlooking the Hauraki Plains. DESCRIPTION:Join our knowledgeable guides for a full day’s exploration of this historic goldmining area. This walk takes us to the upper reaches of the Valley\, through regenerating native bush to explore pack tracks and tramlines from gold mining days\, including New Zealand’s oldest tramline (1882-83) with much of the original rail still in place. A shorter option will be considered if the weather is unfavourable. DESCRIPTION:Three members of Te Aroha Fish and Game will guide this walk. With their combined knowledge they will tell us about the history of the site and the ongoing work to maintain and enhance it for all users – two legged\, four-legged and winged! At the beginning of the walk everyone will be given a list of wildlife species with an identifying picture so they can try and find them on the walk. A list of tree’s will be given too which will be pointed out too.
